Anyone look at this board while still an IN and ACTIVE JW?

i vaguely remember looking at this board a few years ago, before i ever considered leaving the borg, and being appalled at the evil and hateful attitudes i saw here and scared to death of reading any further.. now i go back through years and years of posts and there is no evil or hate there at all.

it's one of the most kind and welcoming boards i've encountered since the invention of the internet.. that is how well borg indoctrination works.

it is eerily like 1984. black is white.

Me too! I'm still in because of my brainwashed wife. I go to meetings to track what she is being feed and frankly to enjoy the BS. Yes, my morbid sense of humor causes me to actually enjoy watching the mind twisting that is going on. Yet I feel so sorry for all the victims, including my wife. It is hard to fake everything but so far it's working. I am of the Conscious Class. I believe the WT is in real trouble with everyone using the internet. No one can escape the forums and news that's out there. They are no match.

I read CofC this week on holiday...life changing stuff!

hi everyone...thank you for all your well wishes for my scottish hols...it was nice..warm dry weather...lovely scenery...a good rest... what i will remember the most about the holiday is that i read ray franz's book there...in fact i struggled to put it down.

it was so revealing and informative but was also written without bitterness or malice.

it stirred many emotions within me ...too many probably...anger, remorse, indignation, sorrow, heartbreak, frustration, sympathy....you name it.... a big emotional journey for me....thanks to all for the recommend i would hate to have missed it..... loz x.

"To me, it is absolutely the #1 book that should be read by anyone that has left or is thinking of leaving the JW cult. There are other books that are important to read also but this one is about Jehovah's Witnesses and it comes from someone who was at the top level."

Agree 100%. What upset me the most is when I saw the date it was first published..the early 80s and suddenly realized what pain, hurt and wasted time and emotions (nevermind money) I could have saved myself from if I had only learned about and read this book around that time. Only read it for the first time in 2006 and it was the last straw for me.

My most memorable moment was terribly funny (and perhaps "eye opening").

At one convention about three of us guys were listening to the crazed clapping that the speaker was motivating the audience to do with the ever increasing pitch of his speech. Then, after several episodes of thunderous clapping, he says loadly something to the affect that "Satan is the ruler of this System of Things!" and this too is followed by thunderous applause. We just looked at each other scratching our heads. LOL.

After meeting privately with the PO regarding my concerns about the suicidal feelings I was having and armed with a newspaper article on suicide prevention, I received mild encouragement. Shortly thereafter I was in the hospital with a nervous breakdown and under "suicide watch". This elder also knows about this. Now, after over a year of trying to recover (through "worldly" help), I still have received no "loving" concern or even curiosity over my suicidal feelings from the PO or any of the other "loving sheppards". As a result, they have no idea if I am better or not and seemingly no interest in knowing.

What a difference it would make for me (and perhaps save a life) if just once they could ask... "How are you doing?" or "Are you feeling any better?"

BTW: I am feeling much better as a result of the "worldly" help I have gotten and this Site.

Perhaps this has already been mentioned, as I have not read all comments...but I must say that I actually think that, for the good of human relationships between people and families, celebrating birthdays should be embraced and encouraged within the JWs.

I find that without birthdays people have yet one more way in which to distance themselves from one another. It is the one time we can openly acknowledge another person's existance and show a measure of love. As a result of not having brithdays, too often I see people lossing respect for each other and those not receiving birthdays can be made to feel unapreciated, unloved and worse. Eventually, people can feel as though they are a non entity.

A simple annual birthday acknowlegement of the value of a person's life could and should end all that uncertainty and make for happier lives. So sad.

As Witnesses we were Trained to be Obedient - Rather than Show Love

i can list many examples of this : probably the most glaring thing i saw proving this in 1982 was when an 83 year old sister died of a heart attack on the stage at an assembly part where she gave her experience then sat down next to me and died right on my shoulder on the stage.

i motioned to a brother sitting near me on the stage to help me carry her off the stage - which we did - and the brother and i behind the curtain tried administering cpr.

a registered nurse ran behind the curtain from the audience also - but the annoying thing is the elder giving the talk just kept right on talking to the 3,000 in the audience with no reference to what had just happened !

Here is an example.

Not too long ago I attended a public talk where the speaker proudly told the audience what attitude about life a JW should display when compared to a “worldly” attitude. He then proceeded to tell the story of a father traveling by ship with his baptized son, who was in his late teens. With them was the son’s friend (also in his late teens) who was unbaptised, but studying. Suddenly a storm came and tossed the two boys overboard. The father then had to make a very difficult and important decision, as he only had enough time and one life preserver to use for any effort to save a life. Thus, he had to pick one of the boys to save.

Which one should he choose to save? Why, of course, the unbaptised boy. Yes, the speaker proceeded to tell the audience that the father yelled out to his son, as his son watched his father throw the life preserver to his friend “You know I love you son with all my heart but understand that I will see you in the new system but your unbaptised friend at this time needs me more then you need me. I love you son!” Yes, his son perishes and the unbaptised friend lives, gets baptized, becomes a Regular Pioneer and later becomes a CO. The audience was moved to tears over the wisdom displayed by the father and the wonderful outcome that resulted by his display of “love”. I just sat there in total shock and disbelief over the cult logic of what I was hearing. Has anyone else heard this JW legion? What do you think?

sorry, to be so blunt- for a whole day i have watched people here patting themselves on the back- we're a large army, oohh, look out wt, we might do something, well not today or tomorrow, but someday!

maybe, i have to just accept that a lot of jw's who are exiting the kh by the back door will never find a backbone to stand up to mummy and elder daddy.. jw's have a learned ability to see themselves in a better light than everyone else sees them.

ask a jw, if they are a charitable religion and they would likely all say they are, but when pressed to name a charity they will be unable to do so.

I just finished reading all the comments on this Thread and, as a result, I am compelled to respond. First, I fit the following description and I am proud of it.

"There may be some people who do come here and bitch and moan but yet keep going to meetings and pretending to be JWs. Someone pretending to do all that may not fit the exact description of 'fader' but yet they can, in their own way find freedom from the clutches of the WT Cult. They may be there physically but mentally, they're with us."

Why? Because, by not being "mentally" in and yet "physically" in, I am proving to myself and to the WT that we can still be "in" and "in good standing" and yet they can't blind all of us, we know what's going on and that their techniques are not 100% effective. And yet, at the same time, I also believe the following to be true....

"I hold that fading is most effective. I hold that a direct assault like DA'ing yourself is mostly ineffective. A steady guerrilla war drains them as with any centralized oppressive power. Drain them. Chip away at them. Erode their authority. That's the way that works because it "flies under the radar" of their simple-minded view of things. If you disassociate yourself, you are a labeled enemy who will never be spoken to."

So, what is my approach? Well, it's similar to the following approach "Any time an elder spends "counseling" me is time he isn't counseling someone else who he might actually have a chance of reaching" So, as I do my fake 4 hours a month ministry I spend my time preventing or guiding people away from the insanity and I prevent those JWs (including my "brainwashed" JW-wife) from doing any harm, thereby protecting others from being victims and giving the GB it's just F**K YOU!

By the way, I do believe in a loving God and the Bible, I just don’t believe in the WTBTS and its methods and I am angered by how it has mislead and unnecessarily harmed people’s lives and families.

Airing WT dirty laundry on shunning-need help

Even though I have never been Dfed nor have I ever DAed myself and was/am in "good standing", the building of a life of 10 years was lost forever when my JW wife, her JW family, extended JW family and JW friends all decided one day to turn on me, all of whom, after more than 20 years, still shun me and demonize me. Along with losing a marriage, a wife that I loved and my house, the continuous slander became so great that it resulted in my self esteem becoming so low I contemplated suicide. It was only after seeking professional therapy and learning about this site that was I able to recover and have happiness in my life.
